I got an impacted wisdom tooth extracted on Monday and for the love of humanity, I'm still swollen! Today is Friday. UGH!! I hate it. I HATE IT. Before this, I was perfectly fine. SOOOO I just went to the dentist to get weeklong pain. UGH! How twisted is that??? UGH!!!!

I am now taking Aleve with anti inflammatory in it, courtesy of Jake's mom. I really hope that when I wake tomorrow, my face is normal looking again.

I am one of the saddest out there right now.

I've fancied crinkles since I first had them at my elementary school in the Philippines. I rarely see these for sale around here so I thought of just baking a batch for myself.

So... I did. First try:



They didn't spread as flat as I remember them to be but they turned out good – crunchy outside, chewy inside. I'm definitely making these again!!

Chocolate Crinkles

Ingredients

• 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 cups white sugar
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil (I used EVOO)
• 4 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Directions

1. In a medium bowl, mix together cocoa, white sugar, and vegetable oil. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the cocoa mixture. Cover dough, and chill for at least 4 hours.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Roll dough into one inch balls. I like to use a number 50 size scoop. Coat each ball in confectioners' sugar before placing onto prepared cookie sheets.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Let stand on the cookie sheet for a minute before transferring to wire racks to cool.

*If I remember correctly, I baked them on the second-to-the-top rack for about 10 minutes. The second time I made this, I baked in the middle and they spread out a little more.

I remember my mom would use oil to rub off the sticky residue on things left by sticky labels. So, I'm doing the same thing for the salt and pepper shakers we got yesterday.

I'm thinking of putting up wall hooks on the blank wall of our bedroom. One for Jake, one for me, and then a nice art piece in the middle, or a group of them. We can put our "outfit for the day" before bedtime so we don't have to figure out what to wear every morning.

Huskies lost (or was losing) so I ended up playing games with the kids instead. Hanging out with cousins is a nice break. =)

I finally got my new camera. It's not Canon so I have to play around with the controls still. It has a "smart" setting, but I don't like how the flash over expose everything. Maybe I can find a way to get around that. Otherwise, I'll have to do the Program mode, which really isn't that hard to set. So for now, I like it. =)

I also got the leaf art from Walmart and the foyer table, which sucked big time because it was wonky. I have to return it. The framed art were fabuloso, though! They were bigger than I expected. I love it!

I also got the shoe carousel and the cart drawer for the bathroom. Man, the drawers were a pain in the butt to assemble. It had the teeniest screws, my thumbs hurt like hell! And the sad thing is, I'm not 100% satisfied. It feels so cheap because it's plastic. I might get a replacement.

Now, just waiting for the ottoman and curtains to be delivered, then more shopping! Yey!

Jake and I woke up with itchy throats. I hope we're not getting sick. Right now, when I swallow, I feel this poking thing, like when you swallow a fish bone. UGH! I hate it. Anyway, we made adobo tonight. =P This one is much better! We added potatoes.


I'm drinking tea before bed, my second for the day. Hopefully, it will soothe my throat.

Hi! I'm here at my parent's place since I have the day off! I miss them a little! Oh, and my brother, of course! Hehe! So yeah, the first thing to do: eat!! Oh my god, my mom made Filipino Leche Flan (I'm not sure if it's made the same everywhere) AND IT WAS SUPER DELICIOUS! I love it, so creamy, sweet, melts in your mouth!!! LALALA!! I have to try making one some day!

Anyway, why is buying a camera so difficult?! I'm just glad that I don't have to buy a laptop too. See, I was looking for one to give to my dad (I heard his computer won't connect to the internet), but when I got here, I found out that it's fixed – he figured out a way to get rid of all the malware that blocked internet. =) Good!
So.. now, I'm still debating which cheap camera to get. I'm such a tightwad with a $200 max budget and wanting an excellent picture quality with fancy features. Wishing myself luck.
