Hi everyone! Oh yes, I'm still alive. I know I haven't showed up here for months (minus the other post I did a few days ago), yikes! That's because if I do go online, I usually only have a bit to say which means I head over to twitter. Well, hopefully, I'll be more committed to doing at least a monthly post.
So what's been happening lately? Well, my parents just got back from the Philippines and I'm so thrilled that I get to see them again! They stayed there for almost a year so I really missed them! Sad thing though is that they plan to only stay here for about 2 months.
Anyway, I bought this Sally Hansen nail strips earlier. Don't you think the plaid design is just too cute?
It came with detailed instructions, 8 strips per hand (varying in sizes so you can choose which fits best), a cuticle stick and a nail file/buffer.
It's pretty easy application. Just find a good fit to a nail, peel it off, press it on and file down the excess sticker. This is what my nails look like after:
Pretty cool huh? One thing I learned is that you will not find a PERFECT match so just go with the closest one and don't fret too much about it because it will look fine no matter what.
...UNLIKE my watercolor pencils:
Seriously, I thought they'd be more cooperative. Clearly, the red does not want to be watered down, and the blue kind of retaliated there. Maybe I need a better brush, or I need to resharpen the pencils, they could have dried out or something of that sort.

Hello hello internet!
Today, I painted my nails with LA Girl's Matte polishes that I got from CherryCulture. It's part of the haul I got the last time I blogged. Anyway, I bought two colors that really aren't that different from each other. I wish I got a blus shade instead. Oh well, nothing I can do anymore.
These aren't fully matte, if you ask me, but they're beautiful nonetheless. They're so easy to apply and dry fairly quick to a gorgeous opaque matte finish. I love it! Also, smooth to the touch.. yay! I just hope they won't chip right away. Obviously I can't put a top coat on these or why would I buy them matte.. yeah.

Yeah yeaah, I need to clean around the nails... I knowww...
What do you guys think?
I've wanted to try this color changing nail polish ever since I first heard about it but I don't really go to the mall that often and when I do, I forget to visit Claire's. But last Sunday I did not! Yay! I was so excited!
Well, well, well... it wasn't as exciting as I hoped it would be. First, the application was not smooth at all. It had this ugly sandy texture to it that I think is from the glitters, even after putting top coat. And it wasn't opaque! I had to layer 3 times to get some decent color. Plus, I was under the impression that it gives your nails the ombre effect having the "warm" color show up on your nail bed and the "cold" color at the ends. I mean, sure, it does change color, but I have to dip my fingers in warm water to see it, otherwise it's just one color. Maybe my fingers are just cold because it's Fall right now. Maybe it has fabulous effect in the Summer time. Or maybe I should have bought one that has a more drastic color difference. Oh well, it does have a nice purple shade.

I used tape to make straight edged lines and then swiped glitter nail polish to add sparkles.
Ta-dah!
I'm going to try to do orange on my other hand. Or purple. We'll see. I'm experimenting on how to gradient...
Ah yes, orange it is.
This one kind of sucks because the polish is already shimmery so the top glitter coat does not show through that well.

Isn't this color the cutest? You can't see it but it has gold micro glitter spartickles in it! LOVE!
I take back what I said about finding a nail polish that compliments my skin tone. Gah. Too barbie no?
Went to Bartell's to pick up some goodies. I was hoping for a larger haul but I don't really know what to pick (do I look for a foundation? concealer? eye shadow? body lotion? moisturizer? what do I want?) and I'm already taking too long and I know Jake was getting bored -- after all, our original trip is to the grocery store. Haha!!
We went to Fred Meyer's after that and I picked up 2 more items.
Finally! A pink shade of nail polish that suit me well! YAY! SO HAPPY!! Only $6.
Ecotools eye brush set. $8.
I wanted to get a blush brush and kabuki, but I'll just go to Target tomorrow for more.
I like the quad color for a base, shadow, crease and highlight. I asked Jake to help me pick a color and we both agreed on the Smokey Purple. Hopefully, it will blend well with my skin tone. $5?
I also picked up a Yes To moisturizer to try their line. There are 3 choices: cucumber, carrots and tomatoes. They are paraben-free and part of the proceeds go to an organization of some kind that helps teach kids how to plant and connect back to nature. This is actually pretty expensive for $15. Please don't make me break out.
And my last purchase is this Burt's Bees tinted lip balm and I LOVE IT!!
They have 6 or 9 shades to choose from. $7.

By the way... HAPPY EASTER everyone!
I recently cleaned out my make-up stash (not that I have many) because I have things that I bought but never really use and it's just cluttering up my tiny bathroom drawer. I have been looking around online for a new palette to replace them with - I prefer a complete travel friendly kit, just a little bit of everything so it's easier to keep and use. I also need to get new brushes.
Anyway, I saw Mia post her massive collection so here I'll show you some of what I did keep:
No more picture taking.. I'm hungry, need to eat breakfast.

Smashbox Blush Rush in Chiffon. It has glitter factor that I'm not a big fan of. But oh well.
Three lonely lipsticks. LOL! I actually just had the middle one but was looking for a pink barely there everyday color. I wasn't sure if it would look okay on me so I picked up drugstore lipsticks to test. So far so good. Still want to get a different pink lipstick, maybe a cream or satin.
Pink and purple nail polish. Cheapo $2 each.
The pink one doesn't really show a color, more like a glaze with micro glitters. NO LIKEY.
The purple is just okay.
